PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana 2025 Update:
In a major pre-Diwali announcement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled an extensive ₹42,000 crore agricultural package aimed at uplifting farmers across 100 aspirational districts in India. Launched from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), Pusa, New Delhi, this initiative includes multiple projects and schemes across the agriculture, livestock, fisheries, and food processing sectors.
The Prime Minister formally inaugurated two flagship schemes — the PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana, with an outlay of ₹24,000 crore, and the Dalhan Utpadakta Mission, worth ₹11,440 crore — marking a significant step towards strengthening India’s rural economy and ensuring sustainable agricultural growth.
Boost for Farmers Across 100 DistrictsUnder the PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana, farmers in 100 selected aspirational districts will receive multi-sectoral benefits from over 11 ministries and 36 government schemes. These districts were identified by the NITI Aayog for being economically and agriculturally underdeveloped, with farm incomes below the national average.
The program aims to enhance crop productivity, encourage diversification, and promote sustainable farming practices. Additionally, it will focus on improving irrigation, developing better storage infrastructure, and ensuring easier access to agricultural credit.
The government’s goal is to bring these 100 districts at par with national agricultural standards by 2030, benefitting an estimated 1.7 crore farmers across the country.
₹42,000 Crore for Agriculture and Allied SectorsApart from the two flagship schemes, PM Modi also inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for several other projects worth ₹5,450 crore in the agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and food processing sectors.
These include:
-
Artificial insemination training centers in Bengaluru and Jammu & Kashmir.
-
Centers of excellence in Amreli and Banas districts.
-
An IVF laboratory in Assam under the National Gokul Mission.
-
Milk powder plants in Mehsana, Indore, and Bhilwara.
-
A fish feed plant in Tezpur, Assam, under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana.
-
New agri-processing clusters, integrated cold chains, and value-addition facilities to strengthen the farm-to-market ecosystem.
Together, these projects represent a holistic push to enhance agricultural productivity, generate rural employment, and boost India’s agri-based economy.
Key Benefits Under the PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi YojanaFarmers under this new initiative will gain access to 11 ministries’ 36 different programs, ensuring broad-based development in rural areas. Key components include:
-
Free distribution of 88 lakh seed kits and 126 lakh quintals of certified pulse seeds to farmers.
-
A subsidy of up to ₹25 lakh for setting up processing units and agri-enterprises.
-
Integration of the scheme with PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, ensuring ₹6,000 annual support to all eligible farmers.
-
Strengthened loan facilities and storage systems to reduce post-harvest losses.
By promoting self-sufficiency and productivity, the scheme aims to ensure that farmers can earn higher and more stable incomes while adopting modern and sustainable agricultural techniques.
Government’s Long-Term VisionThe Central Government’s agricultural roadmap emphasizes “farmers’ prosperity through modernization.” With this investment, PM Modi aims to empower rural India, particularly in the 100 aspirational districts where productivity and income levels are relatively low.
The scheme’s design aligns with India’s broader goals under the Viksit Bharat 2047 mission, focusing on boosting rural infrastructure, increasing employment opportunities, and ensuring equitable development.
Update on PM Kisan Samman Nidhi’s 21st InstallmentMeanwhile, nearly 10 crore farmers are awaiting the 21st installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. There was widespread speculation that the payment might be released on October 11, coinciding with the new agricultural package announcement. However, the government has not yet made any official confirmation.
According to sources, the next installment of ₹2,000 under PM Kisan may be credited in November 2025, possibly after Diwali. Farmers are advised to keep their e-KYC and bank details updated on the official PM Kisan portal to ensure smooth disbursal once the payments begin.
A Diwali Gift for FarmersBy launching these massive schemes worth ₹42,000 crore, the government has effectively given India’s farmers a Diwali gift that goes beyond immediate financial relief — it lays the foundation for long-term agricultural resilience, improved productivity, and higher income levels.
As Prime Minister Modi emphasized during the launch, “Our farmers are the backbone of India’s economy. Empowering them means strengthening the nation itself.”
With the PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana and allied missions now underway, the government’s latest move signals a new era of agricultural transformation aimed at ensuring prosperity and progress in India’s farmlands.
