PM Modi slams Rahul Gandhi's Bihar yatra, alleges RJD-Congress back infiltrators for votes

New Delhi: Prime minister Narendra Modi slammed the Congress-RJD alliance in Bihar for allegedly being soft on infiltration for vote bank politics and endangering the state’s security. Addressing a rally in Purnea in east Bihar on Monday, he underlined his dispensation’s commitment to throwing out these infiltrators even as he charged the two parties of indulging in rampant corruption whenever they are voted to power.

Modi inaugurated the interim terminal building of Purnea airport. This is the third civilian airport in Bihar after Patna and Darbhanga and will provide connectivity to the state with the East and North-East of India. He also launched the National Makhana Board and inaugurated or laid foundation stones for projects worth Rs 36,000 crore.

“There is danger to not only the dignity of Bihar but also its identity. Today in Seemanchal and east India, there is a big danger of demographic change due to infiltration. People of many states, including Bihar, West Bengal and Assam, are worried about the safety of their sisters and daughters. That is why I declared the launch of the Demography Mission from the Red Fort. But look at the selfishness of vote bank politics –– Congress, RJD and people of their ecosystem are engaged in advocating the cause of infiltrators and protecting them,” Modi said.

He alluded to Rahul Gandhi and his recent yatra in Bihar with RJD leader Tejaswi Yadav but did not name them. He alleged that the two parties were “shamelessly” backing infiltrators who have come from abroad.

“They are raising slogans and taking out yatras for them. They want to put at stake both the resources and security of Bihar. But today, from the land of Purnea, I want to make them understand one thing ––Congress-RJD should hear this clearly that whoever is an infiltrator will definitely have to go out. To put a lid on infiltration is a firm responsibility of the NDA,” Modi said.

He said that however much the two parties try to protect infiltrators, his government would continue to work on its pledge to oust them.

“Those who try to become a shield of infiltrators should listen that in India the law of India will prevail, not the will of infiltrators. This is Modi’s guarantee. Action will be taken against infiltrators and the country will see good results of this too,” he said.

He underlined that women voters played a key role in keeping RJD-Congress out of power in Bihar for two decades. They had suffered the most due to lawlessness during their rule, he said.

“Some people do not like this progress of Bihar. Those who exploited Bihar and betrayed its soil are not ready to believe that Bihar too can create new records. Seeing this progress of Bihar, Congress-RJD have once again decided to defame Bihar. Those with such a mindset can never do good for the state. Why will those who are worried about filling their coffers, worry about Bihar’s progress? A Congress PM had accepted that when the Congress government sends Re 1, 85 paise from it is looted. After lighting the lantern (RJD symbol), panja (Congress symbol hand) used to claw at it and snatch away 85 paise,” Modi said.

He said makhana (foxnut) has been a source of income for the farmers of Bihar but the previous governments ignored the interest of makhana and its growers. “I can say with conviction that those who keep visiting this place nowadays would not even have heard of makhana before my arrival. It is our government which has given importance to makhana.”

He said the central government issued the notification for the formation of the National Makhana Board on Sunday.
